recipe for swedish macaroni casserole


Swedish macaroni casserole recipe, makaronipudding. Baked macaroni with ham, leek, and cheese.

Serves four:

5 dl (2 cups) cooked Macaroni
2 dl (0.8 cups) grated Cheese (preferably cheddar)
200 gram (0.4 pounds) smoked Ham
2.5 dl (1 cup) Leek
2.5 dl (1 cup) Cream
1 dl (0.4 cups) Milk
1 tbs Wheat Flour
1 Egg

Salt and Pepper
Oil for frying

1. Dice the ham in small quarters, slice the leek.

2. Saute the leek in oil until soft, set your oven to 200 celsius or about 400 fahrenheit.

3. Mix milk, flour and the egg in a bowl. Pour macaroni, ham and leeks into a ovenproof tray, mix.

4. Add the milk and flour mixture, half the cheese and all of the cream into the macaroni tray, season with salt and pepper.

5. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden. Serve immediately, perhaps with a glass of milk.
